1. A method for producing a polyphenol derivative, comprising reacting a polyphenol-containing composition and a phenol compound represented by the following formula (1) in a solvent,
wherein a mass ratio of the phenol compound to lignin in the polyphenol-containing composition (phenol compound/lignin) is 0.1 to 2:
