a needle, the needle having a plug discharge port and a coagulating agent discharge port;
a fluidic coagulating agent, wherein the coagulating agent is biocompatible and is capable of being inserted within an organ through the needle following insertion of the needle within the organ;
a biocompatible hydrogel plug, wherein the plug is configured to expand upon contact with an aqueous fluid and is capable of being inserted at least partially in a wall of the organ in at least a partially dehydrated state via the needle;
the needle further including a membrane distally located from the coagulating agent discharge port, wherein the membrane is configured to prevent passage of the coagulating agent and can be opened to admit passage of the plug;
whereby the needle can deliver the fluidic coagulating agent and the plug, the combination of which seals a hole in the organ wall created by the needle when the needle is withdrawn from the organ.
