1. A system for handling a set of secure digital tokens, each of which uniquely represents a respective item, comprising:
an item management system that is configured to:
provide an interface that receives a set of item attributes of an item that is to be offered by a seller but is not yet in existence;
generate a virtual representation of the item based on the set of item attributes, the virtual representation being a data structure that includes the set of item attributes;
a token generation system configured to:
generate a digital token that has a set of digital attributes that correspond to the set of item attributes, wherein the digital token is cryptographically secure, wherein the digital token is redeemable for fulfillment of the item after the item comes into existence; and
generate a cryptographically secure, one-to-at-least-one link between the digital token and the virtual representation of the item, such that the respective digital token provides a unique digital representation of the item;
a marketplace system configured to:
provide a marketplace interface that allows a user to purchase the item before the item comes into existence; and
initiates an assignment of the digital token corresponding to the item to an account of a purchasing user in response to the user transacting for the item; and
a redemption system configured to:
receive a redemption request indicating that a redeeming user is attempting to redeem the digital token;
validates that the redeeming user owns the digital token and that the item has come into existence;
in response to validating that the redeeming user owns the digital token and the item has come into existence, triggers a fulfillment workflow that facilitates fulfillment of the item to the redeeming user; and
burns the digital token such that the digital token is no longer redeemable or transferrable.
