1. An injection device for administering a dose of a liquid medicament, the injection device comprising:
an elongated housing having a dispensing end and being configured to accommodate a cartridge containing the liquid medicament;
a drive mechanism configured to operably engage with the cartridge for expelling the dose of the liquid medicament from the cartridge via the dispensing end of the housing;
a protective cap releasably attachable to the housing to cover the dispensing end of the housing;
a first electronic circuit attached to the protective cap and electrically connected to a cap electrode arranged on the protective cap, wherein the first electronic circuit comprises a transceiver operable to transmit data to an external analysis device; and
a second electronic circuit attached to the housing, coupled to the drive mechanism and electrically connected to a housing electrode that is located on the housing,
wherein the first and the second electronic circuits are electrically connectable to each other via the cap electrode and the housing electrode, the cap electrode and the housing electrode being configured to get in mutual contact when the protective cap is attached to the housing, and
wherein the second electronic circuit is void of a transceiver.
