1. A method for increasing the dose of a chemotherapeutic agent in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a peptide having the formula Phe-D-Arg-Phe-Lys-NH2, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the peptide treats or prevents one or more dose-limiting neuropathic conditions induced by the chemotherapeutic agent, thereby permitting an increase in the dose of the chemotherapeutic agent.
