1. An automated process executed by processor of a client device to receive media content from a server device via a network, the automated process comprising:
transmitting, via the network, a request message for the media content formatted in a connectionless format that encapsulates secure data formatted in a connection-based format;
subsequently receiving a response to the request message from the server device, wherein the response is received in the connectionless format that encapsulates at least a portion of the media content in the connection-based format;
extracting the encapsulated media content formatted in the connection-based format from the connectionless format;
providing the extracted media content for playback.
