1. A method for managing an electrical system, the method comprising:
identifying, during operation in a first operating mode wherein electrical power is limited by protection devices, an indicator to enter a second operating mode, wherein the indicator corresponds to power consumption of the electrical system exceeding a power capacity of the electrical system; and
operating in the second operating mode by:
retrieving reference information comprising load preferences, load limits, and modified load operating profiles, and
managing one or more loads to modify power consumption based on the indicator and based on the reference information by:
communicating with the one or more loads to request at least one of the modified load operating profiles of the one or more loads,
after causing the one or more loads to draw less power, determining that the power consumption of the electrical system exceeds the power capacity of the electrical system, and
based on the determining and on the power capacity, implementing a fallback layer by:
identifying one or more branch circuits to disconnect from the electrical system, and
causing the one or more branch circuits to be disconnected from the electrical system.
