1. A lithium-ion battery comprising:
an anode,
a cathode, and
a porous polyolefin separator interposed between the cathode and anode, wherein the porous separator comprises boehmite and a dianionic compound complexed to the separator, wherein the dianionic compound is an anthraquinone disulfonate (AQdiS) or wherein the dianionic compound functions as a photoinitiator.
