1. A method, comprising:
receiving, by a network-based marketplace, a maintenance message that specifies at least one entry of characterization information for a part of a vehicle associated with a user, the at least one entry of characterization information including data generated by a sensor monitoring the part of the vehicle;
identifying, by the network-based marketplace, that a current service level for the part of the vehicle indicates a warning to replace or repair the part of the vehicle based on the at least one entry of characterization information;
determining, by the network-based marketplace, whether a virtual garage associated with the user includes a replacement part for the part of the vehicle;
in response to determining that the virtual garage excludes the replacement part:
initiating, by the network-based marketplace, a search for listings describing the part of the vehicle;
adding, by the network-based marketplace, at least one item identified in results of the search to the virtual garage; and
causing, by the network-based marketplace, the virtual garage to display a first visual alert indicating that the part of the vehicle requires repair or replacement; and
causing, by the network-based marketplace and in response to determining that the virtual garage includes the replacement part, the virtual garage to display a second visual alert indicating that the user possesses the replacement part.
