1. A method comprising:
creating a model of storage system workload configurations, each workload configuration including counts of tasks that characterize a respective workload of a plurality of different workloads and exclusive allocations of processor cores to emulations for servicing the respective workload;
counting tasks performed to service a current actual workload to generate a task count;
forecasting a change in the current actual workload based on the task count; and
selecting and implementing one of the workload configurations of the model based on comparison of the counts of tasks associated with the workload configurations and the forecasted change in the current actual workload based on the task count.
