1. A computer-implemented method for applying attribute inheritance between objects stored in a distributed computing system, the method comprising:
obtaining, at a computing device, a first identifier (ID) for a first object stored in the distributed computing system, wherein the first ID is associated with a first set of one or more records for the first object;
identifying information from the first ID, wherein the information is sub-portion of the first ID or an attribute associated with the first ID;
determining, based on the information, that the first object is a descendant object of a second object, wherein the second object is an ancestor object of the first object, wherein the second object is associated with a second ID that is different than the first ID;
determining, based on the first ID, the second ID;
obtaining, based on the second ID, a second set of one or more records for the second object, the second set of one or more records specifying at least one attribute for the second object; and
adding the at least one attribute for the second object from the second set of one or more records to the first set of one or more records.
