1. A method, applied to a first device, wherein the method comprises:
obtaining a first status parameter of a data link between the first device and a second device;
determining a first mode from a plurality of error detection and correction modes based on the first status parameter;
sending a first indication to the second device, wherein the first indication indicates to the second device to encode data by using the first mode to generate encoded data;
receiving, from the second device, a first response to the first indication, wherein the first response to the first indication indicates whether the second device is allowed to use the first mode to encode the data based on a mode selection condition; and
decoding the encoded data by using the first mode.
