1. A method, comprising:
triggering, by a processor, an alert to a user associated with a first vehicle operating in an autonomous mode, only when a second vehicle operating in a manual mode is near the first vehicle, the alert including a recommendation that the user select an option to switch the first vehicle from the autonomous mode to a manual mode; and
ceasing, by the processor, the alert in response to: (i) the first vehicle switching from autonomous mode to manual mode, or (ii) the second vehicle switching from manual mode to autonomous mode.
