1. An automated process for converting an interlaced video to a progressive scan video, where the interlaced video comprises a stream of interlaced frames, the automated process executable by a computing system that includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the automated process comprising:
for each interlaced frame in the interlaced video:
copying a first plurality of pixel values from a first field to a new progressive scan frame in the progressive scan video;
for each pixel in a second plurality of pixels from a second field:
determining an intraframe pixel prediction value;
determining an interframe pixel prediction value;
determining a replacement pixel value as a blending of the interframe prediction value and the intraframe prediction value; and
copying the replacement pixel value to the new progressive scan frame.
