1. A battery system, comprising:
a first battery having one or more battery cells;
a thermoelectric component (TEC) having thermoelectric materials therein to form a hot region and a cold region, the hot region being thermally connected to a region of the first battery, wherein the TEC is configured to generate a first voltage based on a temperature difference between the hot region and the cold region due to thermoelectric effect;
a voltage converter coupled to the TEC to boost the first voltage produced by the TEC to produce a second voltage that is higher than the first voltage; and
a second battery electrically connected to an output of the voltage converter, wherein the second voltage is utilized to charge the second battery and wherein the second battery has a smaller capacity than the first battery,
wherein a controller is configured to operate air conditioning or a fan to maintain an optimized ambient temperature in which the first battery is stored in, the optimized ambient temperature determined based on minimizing an effort to cool the first battery, minimizing a degradation of the first battery, and maximizing output of the TEC.
