1. A control device for redundant execution of an operating function, the control device comprising:
a first processor unit;
a second processor unit;
a plurality of peripheral units;
a coupling device;
a first switching unit; and
a second switching unit,
wherein the first processor unit is connected to at least one peripheral unit of the plurality of peripheral units via the first switching unit independently of the second switching unit,
wherein the second processor unit is connected to the at least one peripheral unit via the second switching unit independently of the first switching unit,
wherein the control device is configured to perform operations in a first operating mode, the operations comprising:
executing, at the first processor unit, the operating function,
coupling, via the first switching unit, the first processor unit with at least one peripheral unit used by the operating function,
performing, at the second processor unit, an auxiliary function,
coupling, via the second switching unit, the second processor unit with the at least one peripheral unit used by the auxiliary function,
wherein the control device is further configured to perform other operations in a second operating mode, the other operations comprising:
executing, at the second processor unit, the operating function,
executing, at the second processor unit, the auxiliary function in a predefined reduced scope, wherein the predefined reduced scope is a reduction in a number of functionalities or features provided by the auxiliary function, and
wherein the coupling device is configured to connect the second processor unit to the first switching unit and to couple the second processor unit to the at least one peripheral unit associated with the operating function via the first switching unit.
