1. A carbonator reactor comprising:
a reactor body;
a means for regulating a temperature;
a means for regulating a pressure; and
a stirring system; and
wherein the reactor body comprises:
a cylindrical shell,
at least one inlet adapted for introducing liquids, solids, or mixtures thereof,
at least one outlet adapted for discharging a liquid phase or a slurry, and
a nozzle, the nozzle for supplying a gas stream into reactor body and above the surface of the liquid phase so the gas stream can come into direct contact with the surface of the liquid phase, the nozzle is located at an upper portion of the reactor body, within an upper 10% of a height of the reactor body;
wherein the stirring system comprises an impeller and at least one baffle,
the impeller comprising a solid shaft and a plurality of blades, each of the plurality of blades being inclined at an angle from 20° to 45° with respect to a vertical axis, wherein the plurality of blades is at least three blades, and
the at least one baffle regulating stirring of the liquid phase and a mass transfer of a gas into a surface of the liquid phase, wherein a width (wd) of the at least one baffle ranges from left to right from 1% to 15% of the internal diameter (D) of the cylindrical shell.
