9. A processing system for handling safety and security events of a system comprising:
a first controller at a first hierarchical level of the system, the first controller being associated with a first subsystem of a vehicle; and
a second controller at a second hierarchical level of the system, the second controller being associated with a second subsystem of the vehicle,
wherein the first controller is configured to:
receive events associated with the first subsystem from a first monitor associated with the first subsystem,
generate a composite event signal by filtering and grouping the events received from the first monitor,
determine an effect, the effect being selected from a plurality of predetermined effects based on the composite event signal, and
escalate the effect from the first controller of the system to the second controller of the system based on a subset of available reactions for a current context of the system, constraint information, a predetermined effect-reaction policy, and the effect.
