1. A method of operating a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network, comprising:
obtaining a parity check matrix (PCM) associated with a received message;
assigning rows of the PCM to respective groups of a plurality of groups, the respective groups having corresponding one or more parity checks as determined by the PCM, wherein the assigning comprises assigning two or more rows of the PCM to a respective group of the plurality of groups, the respective group having corresponding one or more parity checks as determined by the two or more rows of the PCM;
generating a feedback message including a plurality of bits corresponding to the plurality of groups, wherein an individual bit of the plurality of bits indicates whether a corresponding respective group of the plurality of groups includes one or more unsatisfied parity checks; and
transmitting or causing to transmit the feedback message to a base station of the wireless network.
