1. An anthraquinone compound being a dichroic dye compound represented by the following formula (1):

wherein R1 and R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-C12 linear alkyl group or a C3-C12 branched alkyl group, a C1-C12 linear alkoxy group or a C3-C12 branched alkoxy group, a halogen atom, —CO2R9, —OCOR9, —COR9, a cyano group, or a trifluoromethyl group, R2, R3, R5, and R6 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4 linear alkoxy group or a C3-C4 branched alkyl group, a C1-C4 linear alkoxy group or a C3-C4 branched alkoxy group, a halogen atom, —CO2R9, —OCOR9, —COR9, a cyano group, or a trifluoromethyl group, R7 and R8 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-C12 linear alky group or a C3-C12 branched alkyl group, or a C1-C12 linear alkoxy group or a C3-C12 branched alkoxy group, and R9 each independently represents a C1-C12 linear alkyl group or a C3-C12 branched alkyl group or a substituent represented by the following formula (a):
