1. A catheter assembly, comprising:
a catheter;
a catheter adapter, comprising a distal end, a female luer port opposite the distal end, a side port disposed between the distal end and the female luer port, and a lumen extending through the distal end and the female luer port, wherein the catheter extends distally from the distal end;
a tubular structure disposed within the female luer port, the tubular structure comprises a cylindrical opening extending therethrough, wherein the cylindrical opening is aligned with a longitudinal axis of the catheter adapter; and
an antimicrobial agent disposed on or within the tubular structure.
