1. A method of removably installing a horse boot, the method comprising the steps of:
providing a horse having a horseshoe attached to a hoof thereof;
providing a horse boot comprising:
a sole having opposite first and second engagement surfaces; and
a plate embedded within said sole between said first and second engagement surfaces,
wherein said sole is horseshoe shaped and has an open-central area configured to permit a bottom of the hoof to remain open to airflow;
placing the horse boot adjacent the hoof such that the first engagement surface of the sole contacts the horseshoe; and
attaching the horse boot to the horseshoe via a first fastener.
