1. A dental ~~Caries Status Disclosing Solution~~ [ solution ] comprising a water-based silver fluoride solution for use in the initial application of the silver fluoride solution to a carious lesion followed by the subsequent application of a reducing agent solution for the visual analysis of the status of the carious lesion wherein the water-based silver fluoride solution comprises nitric acid to stabilise the water-based silver fluoride solution [ ,

wherein the nitric acid is added to bring the pH of the silver fluoride solution down to approximately pH 5.5-6.0] .
