1. A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:
a transceiver; and
a processor operably coupled with the transceiver, the processor configured to:
receive, via the transceiver from a base station, configuration information including information on one or more transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states;
receive, via the transceiver from the base station, activation information on a subset of the one or more TCI states;
receive, via the transceiver from the base station, downlink (DL) related downlink control information (DCI) including information indicating at least one TCI state among the subset of the TCI states;
transmit, to the base station via the transceiver, an uplink (UL) signal using a transmit (TX) spatial filter based on the indicated at least one TCI state; and
receive, via the transceiver from the base station, data on a DL channel based on a reference signal associated with the indicated at least one TCI state,
wherein the DL related DCI, which includes the information indicating the at least one TCI state, is without a DL assignment.
