1. A Broadcast/Multicast Service Entity in a network, comprising:
a processor;
a communication interface;
the communication interface is configured to communicate with a plurality of cells in the network;
the processor and the communication interface are configured to initiate a Broadcast/Multicast Service Session in the plurality of cells;
the processor and the communication interface are configured to provide configuration, coordination and synchronization to the plurality of cells for the Broadcast/Multicast Service Session to ensure that the plurality of cells transmit identical data, substantially simultaneously, wherein the Broadcast/Multicast Service Session comprises a radio resource configuration including time and frequency resources, transmission configuration including modulation and coding scheme, and scheduling period;
the communication interface and processor are configured to notify the plurality of cells when the Broadcast/Multicast Service Session starts and when it ends; and
based on acknowledgement feedback, the Broadcast/Multicast Service is selectively retransmitted using unicast or multicast or broadcast, wherein when a first number of acknowledgements is received, retransmission uses unicast and when a second number of acknowledgments is received, the retransmission uses multicast or broadcast.
