1. A system comprising:
a first wearable playback device;
a second wearable playback device;
at least one processor; and
data storage including instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the system is configured to:
receive, from a non-wearable playback device over a wireless network, data representing audio channels of a video being played back on a television that is connected to the non-wearable playback device;
play back the audio channels as a bonded pair, wherein, during playback of the audio channels as the bonded pair, the first wearable playback device is configured to render one or more first audio channels and the second wearable playback device is configured to render one or more second audio channels;
during playback of the audio channels, monitor the first wearable playback device and the second wearable playback device for a state corresponding to an inability of the bonded pair to continue rendering the audio channels; and
based on detection of the state, perform a recovery that modifies playback of the audio channels by the bonded pair.
