1. An apparatus of a next generation Node B (gNB) Distributed Unit (DU), comprising:
radio frequency circuitry configured to communicate with a user equipment (UE); and
one or more baseband processors communicatively coupled to the radio frequency circuitry and configured to perform operations comprising:
receiving a set of Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Protocol Data Units (PDUs) from a gNB Central Unit (CU), wherein each PDCP PDU from the set of PDCP PDUs is associated with a PDCP sequence number (SN) and a New Radio User-plane (NR-U) SN, wherein the set of PDCP PDUs are assigned consecutive NR-U SNs;
transmitting one or more New Radio User-plane (NR-U) packets comprising one or more PDCP PDUs from the set of PDCP PDUs to the UE; and
feeding back, to the CU, (i) an indication of a highest, received in-sequence PDCP SN (ii) a number of lost NR-U SN ranges, (iii) a start of a lost NR-U SN range and (iv) an end of the lost NR-U SN range, wherein the CU interprets the highest, received in-sequence PDCP SN only up to a corresponding NR-U SN.
