1. A control device comprising:
a processing device, and
a memory device configured to store logic that is configured to enable the processing device to
determine photonic characteristics of a first band and a second band at an input of a fiber span in a photonic line system to obtain a launch spectrum profile and at an output of the fiber span to obtain a received spectrum profile,
determine a baseline gain/loss transmission profile over the fiber span based on the launch spectrum profile and the received spectrum profile, and
utilize the baseline gain/loss transmission profile to adjust gain characteristics of one or more optical amplifiers in the photonic line system,
wherein the baseline gain/loss transmission profile is compared to a subsequent received spectrum profile to determine a deficiency of the first band and an acceptability of the second band over the fiber span fro determining a gain correction profile, and wherein the gain correction profile is applied to an amplifier associated with the second band.
