1. An electric motor comprising:
a casing having an interior and a socket formed in the casing and accessible from outside the casing, the socket having an inner surface;
a rotor and a stator disposed within the interior of the casing to create flux;
an internal wiring network within the interior of the casing;
and a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) sensor system
comprising:
an LRU sensor having electrical conductors and internal sensor wiring that is electrically connected to the electrical conductors,
wherein the electrical conductors on the inner surface of the socket are electrically connected to the internal wiring network within the interior of casing so as to provide electrical power to the socket and a signal path for signals outputted by LRU sensor, and
wherein the LRU sensor is removably positioned in the socket such that the electrical conductors of the LRU sensor contact and draw electrical power from particular electrical conductors on the inner surface of the socket and the LRU sensor provides sensor output signals to other electrical conductors on the inner surface, and
wherein the LRU sensor can be removed from the socket and replaced with another LRU sensor without moving or disassembling the electric motor.
