1. A computer-implemented method for generating an aggregated, visual causal mapping framework for a specified construct, comprising:
receiving a query specifying at least one construct and a causal role for that construct, the causal role being that of an independent variable or a type of independent variable, the query being responsive to at least one of text, speech, and graphical user-input from a human or machine;
searching a database to find at least one construct exactly or closely matching the specified construct, wherein a construct exactly matching the specified construct is a construct whose name, as stored in the database, matches the name of the specified construct, and a construct closely matching the specified construct is a construct whose alternative name, as stored in the database, matches the name of the specified construct;
identifying at least one document associated with at least one first study in which the matching at least one construct has a causal role of an independent variable or a type of independent variable;
in the identified at least one first study, identifying at least one first construct having the causal role of dependent variable or mediator variable relative to the matching at least one construct that has the causal role of independent variable;
displaying the aggregated, visual causal mapping framework for the matching at least one construct, in which the position of the matching at least one construct relative to the position of a second construct is indicative of the causal role played by the matching at least one construct and the second construct in at least one study that examined the matching at least one construct and the second construct, the aggregated, visual causal mapping framework comprising:
a first visual representation for the at least one matching construct;
a second visual representation for a construct stored in the database as having the causal role of dependent variable or mediator variable in at least one second study in which the matching at least one construct has the causal role of independent variable, such second visual representation positioned to the right of the first visual representation for the matching at least one construct; and
one or more third visual representations connecting the matching at least one construct with the visually represented construct to the right of the matching at least one construct, thereby signifying a causal relationship that was examined between the connected constructs.
