9. A system, comprising:
a sensor coupled to a power supply unit;
an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) coupled to an output of the sensor via a first path; and
a controller coupled to the sensor via a second path and the ADC via a third path and a fourth path; wherein:
the sensor is to sense a power output of the power supply unit and to output a current-proportional analog signal indicative of the power output to the ADC via the first path;
the ADC is to receive the current-proportional analog signal from the sensor and to begin to perform an analog-to-digital conversion of the current-proportional analog signal;
if the ADC determines from the analog-to-digital conversion that the power output is higher than a threshold value prior to completion of the analog-to-digital conversion, the ADC is to transmit an alert to the controller via the fourth path;
if the ADC determines from the analog-to-digital conversion that the power output is not higher than the threshold value, the ADC is to transmit a digital representation of the power output to the controller via the third path;
if the sensor determines that the power output is higher than the threshold value, the sensor is to transmit an alert to the controller via the second path; and
the second path bypasses the first path, the ADC, the third path, and the fourth path.
