1. An optical stack comprising:
a waveguide;
a first protective layer disposed on a first side of the waveguide;
a second protective layer disposed on a second side of the waveguide;
a vision corrective optic disposed on the first side of the waveguide;
an electrochromic layer disposed on the second side of the waveguide; and
at least one of:
a first air gap disposed between the waveguide and the first protective layer, and
a second air gap disposed between the waveguide and the second protective layer.
