1. An electronic apparatus, comprising:
a controller that supplies image data at a frame rate of 1/tfr;
at least one display comprising:
a plurality of pixels;
data lines configured to receive an incoming image in an electronic format;
and;
said plurality of pixels configured to display the electronic image in an optical format; and said display being connected to said controller;
pupil forming optics located at a first distance from the said display that are configured to receive the optical image from said display and form an intermediate pupil located at a second distance away from said pupil forming optics; said intermediate pupil having a half-cone divergence angle of α1/2;
at least one beam steering mechanism located at said intermediate pupil location that steers said intermediate pupil into N discrete angular directions around a nominal axis in at least one dimension at an interval of tfr/N where N is an integer and where tfr is the time period for a single frame of image data;
said beam steering mechanism being connected to the controller; and
a combiner optic located at a third distance from said beam steering mechanism, wherein the combiner optic is configured to receive said steered beam of light and redirect said steered beam of light to the viewer's eye where the viewer's eye is located at a fourth distance from said combiner optic.
