1. An ion-selective electrode comprising:
an ion selective membrane configured to be in contact with a solution to be measured;
a transducer layer in contact with said ion selective membrane;
a conductive electrode in contact with said transducer layer; wherein said transducer layer comprises transition metal oxides; wherein said transition metal oxides comprise at least one transition metal in a mixed redox state, said at least one transition metal in a mixed redox state being Mn2+/Mn3+;
wherein said ion selective membrane is adapted for sensing one or more ions selected from NO3, NO2, Cl, Br, HSO4, SO42−, H2PO4, HPO42−, PO43−, NH4+, H+.
