1. A nanocomposite blend comprising:
a first (meth)acrylic polymer or copolymer comprised of monomers selected from the group consisting of methacrylic acid and acrylic acid;
a second (meth)acrylic polymer or copolymer comprised of monomers selected from the group consisting of methacrylic acid and acrylic acid; and
surface-modified metal oxide nanoparticles, wherein the surface-modified metal oxide nanoparticles are surface modified with a surface modifying agent comprising a carboxylic acid silane of Formula 1:

wherein
R1 is a C1 to C10 alkoxy group; and
R2 and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of C1 to C10 alkyl and C1 to C10 alkoxy groups; and
A is a linker group selected from the group consisting of C1 to C10 alkylene or arylene groups, C1 to C10 aralkylene groups, C2 to C16 heteroalkylene or heteroarylene groups, and C2 to C16 amide containing groups.
