1. A method of improving multiply charged cations and suspended solids removal by foam fractionation from an aqueous or oil/aqueous phase solution comprising:
adding to said solution an effective amount of associative thickener in the presence of from about 11 to about 60 ppm of a surfactant comprising a sorbitan ester and from 250 ppm to about 5000 ppm of a source of alkalinity comprising an alkali metal hydroxide or an alkali metal carbonate.
