1. A method comprising:
sensing, with a sensor, at least one characteristic related to at least a first axle of a first vehicle of a vehicle system;
communicating the at least one characteristic of at least the first axle of the first vehicle to an on-board controller via the internet of things (IOT);
communicating a remedial action to an operator of the first vehicle based on the at least one characteristic related to the at first axle of the first vehicle;
restricting movement of the first vehicle based at least in part on the at least one characteristic of at least the first axle of the first vehicle
communicating the at least one characteristic of at least the first axle of the first vehicle to an off-board controller at a remote location via the IOT; and
determining, with the off-board controller, to reduce a first torque to the first axle of the first vehicle and increase a second torque to a second axle of a second vehicle of the vehicle system based at least in part on the at least one characteristic of at least the first axle communicated, such that the vehicle system does not vary in speed.
