1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
maintaining, by a computing system, information associated with a plurality of predetermined situations in which lighting operation of an ego vehicle should automatically transition;
predicting, by the computing system, an occurrence of a predetermined situation of the plurality of predetermined situations, wherein the predetermined situation is detection of a facility where pedestrians frequent as indicated in a map; and
causing, by the computing system, an automatic transition in lighting operation of the ego vehicle in response to a determination that the predetermined situation will occur within a threshold duration of time, wherein the automatic transition in lighting operation of the ego vehicle is deactivation of high beam headlights and activation of low beam headlights.
