1. A tandem electric axle system, comprising:
a first beam axle assembly with a first continuously variable dual-motor drive unit; and
a second beam axle assembly with a second continuously variable dual-motor drive unit;
wherein the second continuously variable dual-motor drive unit has a planetary gearset with a different gear ratio than a planetary gearset in the first continuously variable dual-motor drive unit; and
wherein the first continuously variable dual-motor drive unit includes a disconnect clutch that is positioned downstream of the planetary gearset and configured to selectively disengage the first continuously variable dual-motor drive unit.
