1. An implantable medical system comprising:
an implantable medical lead configured to be navigated from an access point of a patient to an implantation site within a substernal space of the patient, wherein the implantable medical lead comprises at least one electrode configured to be oriented within the substernal space relative to a heart of the patient; and
an anchoring mechanism configured to be slidably disposed along a length of the implantable medical lead and positioned at the access point of the patient, the anchoring mechanism configured to:
secure the implantable medical lead at the access point; and
fixedly-secure the at least one electrode oriented relative to the heart at the implantation site.
