1. An add-on device adapted to be releasably mounted on a drug delivery device, the drug delivery device comprising:
a device housing,
a drug reservoir or means for receiving a drug reservoir,
drug expelling means comprising a device dose setting member rotatable relative to a reference axis and allowing a user to set a dose amount of drug to be expelled, and an axially actuatable dose release member,
an indicator adapted to move during expelling of a dose amount, the amount of movement being indicative of the size of the expelled dose amount,
a clutch provided between the device dose setting member and the device housing, the clutch having an unactuated state allowing the dose setting member to rotate relative to the device housing in response to the application of a torque exceeding a first threshold against rotation, and an actuated state allowing the dose setting member to rotate relative to the device housing in response to the application of a torque exceeding a second higher threshold against rotation, the clutch being actuated when the device dose setting member is moved axially in a distal direction relative to the device housing,
the add-on device comprising an outer assembly being releasably attachable to the device housing, and an inner assembly, wherein:
the outer assembly comprises:
an add-on dose setting member, and
an add-on release member axially moveable relative to the add-on dose setting member between a dose setting state and a dose expelling state,
the inner assembly comprises:
an inner member adapted to non-rotationally engage the dose setting member,
sensor means adapted to detect the amount of rotation and/or position of the indicator, and
an actuator axially moveable between a proximal position and a distal position relative to the inner member, the actuator being adapted to engage and actuate the release member when moved distally,
wherein the inner assembly is adapted to transfer an axial force applied to the add-on release member to the device dose setting member via the inner member when moving the add-on release member from the dose setting state to the dose expelling state,
whereby, with the add-on device in a mounted state, the clutch is actuated by the force transferred from the inner member to the device dose setting member when the add-on release member is moved axially from the dose setting state to the dose expelling state.
