1. A method of sharing emotional or affective data or state of an individual with another individual during remote social interaction comprising the steps of:
providing a platform for social interaction between a first user and a second user wherein said first and second users are remote from each other and wherein said platform is implemented via a software application;
providing means for measuring, estimating or deriving physiological or physical characteristics or responses of said first user wherein said means includes sensors or transducers attached or proximate to the user;
providing a user input interface to a software application running on a computing device by which the user inputs said user's subjective impression of the user's current emotional or affective state;
receiving said first user's provided subjective impression of the user's current emotional or affective state;
receiving a first datum from the first user wherein said first datum is a measured or derived datum representing a current first physiological or physical characteristic or response of said first user;
receiving a second datum from the first user wherein said second datum is a measured or derived datum representing a current second physiological or physical characteristic or response of said first user and wherein said second characteristic or response is a different type of physiological or physical characteristic or response than said first physiological or physical characteristic or response;
generating an estimate of a current emotional or affective state or change of emotional or affective state of the first user wherein said estimate is derived using: said received user's subjective impression of said user's current emotional or affective state, and said received first and second datums of the user and wherein said generating is accomplished via an adaptive self learning software engine implemented on a computer processor; and
providing said estimate of current emotional or affective state or change of emotional or affective state of the first user to a second user wherein said first user shares the first user's current emotional or affective state or change thereto with the second user.
