1. A golf shoe comprising:
an upper; and
a sole assembly connected to the upper, the upper and sole assembly each having forefoot, midfoot, and rearfoot areas, lateral and medial sides, and anterior and posterior ends, the sole assembly comprising:
a U-shaped reinforcement structure, the reinforcement structure comprising:
a lateral side wing that extends upward from a periphery of a lateral sidewall of the sole assembly;
a medial side wing that extends upward from the periphery of a medial sidewall of the sole assembly; and
a bridge section that extends from the lateral side wing to the medial side wing,
wherein the reinforcement structure is shaped and positioned so that:
the medial side wing is angled rearward toward the posterior end of the shoe to support the rearfoot area; and
the lateral side wing is angled forward toward the anterior end of the shoe to support the midfoot area.
