1. A method in which one or more processing devices perform operations comprising:
identifying an image background within a digital image;
obtaining, from an image generation library, reference font size information;
identifying a set of candidate regions of the image background by determining, for each pixel of multiple pixels within the image background, a respective candidate region lying completely within the image background and for which a region width and a region height of the respective candidate region are compatible with the reference font size information;
determining a particular candidate region having a largest area as compared to other candidate regions in the set of candidate regions;
selecting the particular candidate region as a target region for rendering message text at a target font size that fits within the target region; and
generating a combined digital image by rendering the message text within the target region of the image background.
