1. A method for compressing image data, the method comprising:
receiving, from an image sensor of a camera, image data into a processor of the camera;
transforming the image data into Luma data and Chroma data in a YCbCr color space;
performing a discrete cosine transform (DCT) on the Luma data and the Chroma data to return Luma coefficients and Chroma coefficients;
quantizing the Luma coefficients and the Chroma coefficients and applying a low-pass filter to the Chroma coefficients, but not to the Luma coefficients, to return quantized, filtered coefficients; and
compressing the quantized, filtered coefficients to produce compressed image data within the camera.
