1. A method, comprising:
managing a prize pool based on a plurality of back-bet wagers placed at a plurality of user computational devices for an outcome of a game of chance or skill;
establishing at least a first electronic communication pathway through a communication network and at least a second electronic communication pathway through the communication network with a plurality of EGMs and with the plurality of user computational devices, respectively;
distributing an award from the first prize pool in connection with the game of chance or skill to a player at one of the plurality of EGMs;
determining, via a message that has traversed a first electronic communication pathway through a communication network, that an award has been distributed in connection with the game of chance or skill to a player at an electronic gaming machine (EGM);
in response to determining that the award has been distributed in connection with the game of chance or skill, automatically distributing an award from the prize pool to a player at one of the plurality of user computational devices; and
transmitting, via at least a second electronic communication pathway established through the communication network, an electronic message indicating a re-assigned value reflecting the distribution of the award from the prize pool.
