1. A method of in-vehicle data collection, the method comprising:
receiving a plurality of rules, wherein each of the plurality of rules includes:
a trigger event for determining timing for initiating data collection, and
instructions for content of the data collection;
determining whether content of data collection for a first rule of the plurality of rules overlaps with content of data collection for any other of the plurality of rules;
identifying overlapping content of data collection data in response to determining that the first rule overlaps with at least one other rule of the plurality of rules;
collecting data associated with the first rule in response to detection of a trigger event of the first rule;
storing a single copy of the overlapping content of data collection data for the first rule regardless of a number of the plurality of rules that overlap with the first rule; and
maintaining a different trigger event for the first rule from the trigger event for each of the number of the plurality of rules that overlap with the first rule.
