1. A display device comprising:
a sensor to generate a detection signal based on whether a human is detected;
first logic circuitry to:
generate a first control signal based on (a) the detection signal and (b) a connection status signal, the connection status signal indicative of a connection to host hardware; and
cause transmission of the first control signal to the host hardware via an auxiliary channel between the display device and the host hardware; and
second logic circuitry in circuit with the sensor and the first logic circuitry, the second logic circuitry to:
generate the connection status signal based on a detection that the display device is in communication with the host hardware;
trigger a timer based on the detection signal indicating a human is not detected; and
based on the timer elapsing, turn off the display device and de-assert the connection status signal, the first logic circuitry to, based on the de-assertion of the connection status signal, cause transmission of a second control signal to the host hardware to cease transmission of display data from the host hardware to the display device.
