1. A method of tracking one or more mobile devices in a distribution network, the method comprising:
generating, by one or more sensors, a plurality of tracking data records;
receiving the plurality of tracking data records from the one or more sensors;
storing, in a memory, the plurality of tracking data records;
selecting, from the stored tracking data records, a set of tracking data records for compression, each record of the set of track data comprising a plurality of number valued fields separated by at least one field separator;
applying delta encoding to the plurality of number valued fields of at least one record of the set of tracking data records;
applying a conversion to the plurality of number valued fields of the at least one record of the set of tracking data records;
determining whether a number of converted characters in the at least one record of the set of tracking data records exceeds a length threshold;
removing one or more field separators from the at least one record based on the number of converted characters not exceeding the length threshold to generate a compressed data set; and
transmitting the compressed data set to a data center via the network.
