1. A radiation shield assembly for blocking radiation at a gas turbine piping connection joint, the radiation shield assembly comprising:
a radiation shield configured to surround the gas turbine piping connection joint, the radiation shield comprising at least two shield portions coupled to one another at a first flanged end and a second flanged end opposite the first flanged end, wherein each shield portion of the at least two shield portions comprises:
an inner shell comprising an inner arcuate portion extending between the first flanged end and the second flanged end, a first inner connection flange extending radially outward from the inner arcuate portion at the first flanged end, and a second inner connection flange extending radially outward from the inner arcuate portion at the second flanged end;
an outer shell including an outer arcuate portion, a first outer connection flange extending radially outwardly from the outer arcuate portion at the first flanged end, and a second outer connection flange extending radially outwardly from the outer arcuate portion at the second flanged end; and
insulation disposed between the inner shell and the outer shell, the insulation extending between a first terminal end adjacent the first flanged end and a second terminal end adjacent the second flanged end, wherein the first inner connection flange extends radially outward across the first terminal end and further extends radially outward of the outer arcuate portion parallel to the first outer connection flange such that the first inner connection flange and the first outer connection flange stack together in flush contact, and wherein the second inner connection flange extends radially outward across the second terminal end and further extends radially outward of the outer arcuate portion parallel to the second outer connection flange such that the second inner connection flange and the second outer connection flange stack together in flush contact.
